Universal Infant Free School Meals
Each child in F2 & KS1(Y1 & Y2) are now entitled to a free school meal.
We would encourage all parents to take up this offer. At the moment it is a government paid initiative and will be monitored to see its effectiveness. If enough pupils do not take up the offer initially it may be that the funding would be taken away from the school and therefore we would incur costs to cover the shortfall. This would mean using money otherwise used for the children’s teaching and learning.
Your older children may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
To apply either ring 0114 2734567 choosing option 3 or apply on line at www.sheffield.gov.uk
For all other children who do have to pay for dinners the cost is £2.35 per dinner.
